Futsal is a variation of soccer played in an indoor arena. Indoor soccer is played between two teams of five players, one of whom is the goalkeeper and where unlimited substitutions are allowed while the ball is out of play. Unlike other variations of indoor soccer, this game is played on a hard surface delimited by lines. It is also played with a smaller ball with a smaller bounce than the regular soccer ball. The surface, the ball and the rules unavoidably put an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as well as ball control and passing in tight spaces.

The Panhellenic Association of Futsal Clubs 5 × 5-Futsal (PEPSS) suggests the governing body of futsal in Greece.
