PAOK B.C.
INFORMATION
PAOK (Panthessalonikian Athletic Club of Constantinopolitans) was founded in 1926 by Greeks from Constantinople.
Basketball has been an integral part of the club since the very beginning of its history, even if its first steps were essentially experimental. On 24/10/1926, the first official basketball game of PAOK is recorded, in which the team defeated Aris 14–12 in the opening match of the Thessaloniki championship.
In 1959, PAOK won the Greek Championship, the first team-sport title in the history of the club, and in 1984 added the Greek Cup to its trophy collection, in the so-called “final of the shaved heads.”
From 1990 onwards, when the team reached the semi-final stage of a European competition for the first time, and for an entire decade, PAOK consistently competed at the highest level in Greece and Europe. The club won two European titles (1991, 1994), reached two more European finals (1992, 1996), and in 1993—when it was considered the best team in Europe—finished 3rd in the Final Four of the European Champions Cup held in Athens. During that period, PAOK also won three more domestic titles (the Greek Championship in 1992, and the Greek Cup in 1995 and 1999).
In 2025, just before reaching the milestone of 100 years since its foundation, PAOK once again took part (after 29 years) in a European final.
