An impressive qualification for Lefteris Petrounias at the Olympic Games

He won the silver medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp.

The pursuit of his third Olympic medal has already begun for Lefteris Petrounias.

The iconic athlete secured the second place in the still rings at the World Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, which also served as his ticket to march at the Opening Ceremony on July 26th at Stade De France in Paris, as a prominent member of the Greek Olympic team.

Petrounias collected a score of 15.066, behind China’s Liu Yang, who had 15.233, thus climbing to the second step of the podium.

He secured his participation in the Rings event at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and the silver medal he proudly displayed marked his fourth World Championships medal, in addition to the golds he won in 2015, 2017 and 2018.

In the French capital, under the guidance of his coach Dimitris Raftis, he will aim to secure his third Olympic medal, following his gold in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and bronze in Tokyo in 2021.
