Eleftherios Petrounias

Eleftherios (Lefteris) Petrounias was born in Athens on November 30, 1990.

He is a Greek artistic gymnast specializing in the rings. Widely regarded as one of Greece’s greatest athletes, he has earned consistent top-level distinctions on the international stage.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS:

• Gold medal at the Rio Olympics (2016)
• Bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics (2021) and the Paris Olympics (2024)
• He has also managed to win the gold medal at the World Championships 3 times (2015, 2017, 2018), a feat that puts him in the pantheon of hoops and makes him one of only three gymnasts in the history of the sport to win three gold medals in one event.
• He has won eight gold titles at the European Championship (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025) while also holding two bronze medals from 2011 and 2023.
