Dimitris Diamantidis was born in Kastoria on May 6, 1980. He started playing basketball at the age of 14 with his hometown team. In 1998, the talented young guard made his first transfer to Iraklis, and in the 1999\u20132000 season he made his debut with the club\u2019s senior team. He played in Thessaloniki until 2004, when he moved to Athens to join Panathinaikos\u2014going on to write his name in gold in the history of European basketball.<\/span><\/p>\n In his first season with Panathinaikos, he won the Greek League and the Greek Cup. A second domestic \u201cdouble\u201d followed in 2006. In 2007, he won the EuroLeague for the first time, while also claiming the Greek League and Cup for a third consecutive year. At that season\u2019s Final Four, he was named <\/span>Final Four MVP<\/b> and selected to the <\/span>All-EuroLeague First Team<\/b>. In 2008 he added another Greek League and Cup, and in 2009 Panathinaikos repeated the <\/span>Triple Crown<\/b>. The following season he won the Greek League for a sixth consecutive time. In 2011, he captured a third EuroLeague title, was again named <\/span>Final Four MVP<\/b>, and was also awarded <\/span>EuroLeague MVP<\/b>, while winning the Greek League title as well. From 2012 to 2015, he won four consecutive Greek Cups, and in 2013 and 2014 he returned to the top of Greece by winning the Greek League again.<\/span><\/p>\n Diamantidis first wore the Greek national team jersey in 2000\u20132001, winning a <\/span>silver medal<\/b> with the Greece U20 team at the Mediterranean Games. Four years later, he helped Greece reach the top of Europe, winning <\/span>EuroBasket gold in 2005<\/b>. In 2006, he won <\/span>silver<\/b> at the FIBA World Cup (Japan). He retired from the senior national team in 2011, having also competed in two Olympic Games (2004 and 2008) and won seven Acropolis Tournament titles.
