Stoiximan supports the effort of the Educational and Cultural Association Marathonos Attica (MESMA) which organizes the “1st MESMA 3on3street – Panagiotis Chamilothoris” in Marathon.

The 2-day 3on3 basketball tournament, which took place on September 7 and 8, 2019, is dedicated to the memory of Panagiotis Chamilothoris, a basketball athlete of M.E.S.M.A. who tragically lost his life at the age of 29 just during the catastrophic fire in Mati, in July 2018.

Acting as a “beacon of memory” for Panagiotis and the total of 102 victims of the tragedy in Mati, the event aspires to become an annual, top tier sports competition, which will convey optimistic messages of life, sports and giving to fellow human beings.

Proceeds from the tournament will be donated by the Panagiotis family to citizens and families affected by the deadly fire.

“The tournament started as an idea to become an institution in Marathon in memory not only of Panagiotis but also for all those who were lost in the deadly fire last summer in Mati. 3.5 months ago we found the ideal partner, Stoiximan, who welcomed us to its premises and with human affection embraced this initiative. We do not organize a simple basketball tournament, we aim to have it held with the best specifications in the memory of Panagiotis. “Hug4mati, an action for the burn victims in consultation with the Panagiotis family, will very carefully hand over the proceeds to selected fire-affected families who are really in need”, commented the President of MESMA, Kottaridis George, in a press conference held for the event.

He also added: “We invite everyone to attend the tournament on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm, so that they can contribute to the fundraising as there will be a lottery with many prizes. such as English scholarships, bicycles, tuition discounts and much more. There will also be activities for children and a completely safe environment for young and old persons. Greek basketball stars such as Dimitris Diamantidis, Dimitris Papanikolaou, Gagaloudis Giannis, Tsartsaris Costas and others will attend the event and they will play and give autographs “.

Ioannis Spanoudakis, member of the Board of Stoiximan, pointed out: “We are a company that loves sports, for us sports is life. We aspire for MESMA 3 × 3 to become an institution so that we do not forget Panagiotis and those who were lost and we take care that such a thing does not happen again and to bring sports and life back to the region. “We want to leave a sports infrastructure in the area, we will reconstruct the basketball court of Ampeloupoli and we will build a playground to give the opportunity to young and old persons to play sports again in the area”.
